Ecolignor “dresses” the Esportiu Maià Club football players
Ecolignor has reached an agreement with the Esportiu Maià Club to dress the 24 players of the local football team. The official presentation of the new strip, which includes the company’s corporate colours and logotype, took place last 1st March at the Maià de Montcal pitch during a match of group 26 of the 3rd regional league, played against Argelaguer. The home team beat the visiting team by 1-0. Once again, with this initiative, Ecolignor shows its support to different cultural and sporting activities as well as its ties with the town where its facilities are located.

Ecolignor’s international expansion has made an impression in the financial press
The new plant opened by Ecolignor in Romania at the beginning of the summer has been news in various newspapers around Spain during October.
“Expansión”, a leading financial newspaper, gave a detailed report on the investment of half a million euros which the company Maià de Montcal has made in the Merisani plant (Romania). The article underlines that Ecolignor’s internationalisation is not based on exportation, but on the establishment of a company with very similar characteristics in a different country. The low cost of the product (wooden pallets) makes its long-distance transport non cost-effective and renders export unpractical.
Another newspaper called “Diari de Girona”, which published the news in its financial section, underlined the international vocation of Ecolignor which, in words of its director Josep Jané “has been looking abroad for years”. The Romanian subsidiary company was finally opened through a joint venture with a local partner controlling 15% of shares and after conducting a thorough investigation of Romania and other studies.
The Merisani plant is a pallet storage, repair and handling centre measuring 11.200 m2 which, according to forecasts, will be capable of handling 20,000 pallets a month.

Ecolignor sponsors the 10th Mountain Bike Race from Maià de Montcal and Dosquers
This summer, the company Ecolignor, which maintains its policy of supporting different sporting and cultural events, sponsored the tenth Mountain Bike Race around municipality’s diverse paths and tracks. The race, which took place on July 1st and was organised by the town council of Maià de Montcal and Dosquers and by Pedal Maià, had two routes - one of 30 kilometres and another of 20. After the race, the 280 cyclists who participated were presented with a jersey to commemorate this tenth anniversary on which, as the event’s sponsor, Ecolignor’s logo was printed.

Ecolignor incorporates a new cleaner technology into its production process to reduce wood waste.
The new machinery permits dismantling pallets for recycling, thus reducing wood waste and also decreasing management costs.
This process makes it possible to increase the quantity of recuperated pallets and reduce the amount of new wood necessary for optimum pallet recuperation.
Ecolignor, which stands out because of its environmental management policy, has been granted UNE-EN ISO 9001:2000 and UNE-EN ISO 14001:2004 certificates by the prestigious entity TÜV INTERNATIONAL.

The French magazine on Human Resources and Management “Enterprises & Carrières” highlights Ecolignor’s integration policy with foreign workers.
This policy is based on the understanding and respect for the cultural and religious difference of a group that represents 64% of the staff.
The company allows workers to have time for their religious practices, which makes them much more motivated, leading to an increase in productivity and a reduction of industrial conflicts.
The article also refers to the prize draw for a trip to the Mecca, organised by Ecolignor in order to stimulate its workers even more.

Ecolignor collaborates with the play “Sols al cel”, written and directed by Martí Peraferrer
Ecolignor continues with its policy to support different cultural activities and has provided pallets to prepare the scenery for the show.
The company manager, Josep Jané, gave advice to the production team about the most suitable material to achieve the desired effect on the stage.
The play, which was performed for the first time at the La Planeta de Girona theatre on 10 February last, is currently touring the whole of Catalonia.
